Evaluation of Expansion and Terrain use Modify Impacts in Stream Flow and Residue Yield in Margalla Slopes Using Distant Sensing and GIS: Example of Rawal Dam and Simly Dam Watershed.
6. Brief Description/ Abstract:
For this study Rawal and Simly dams watershed areas in Margalla Slopes, which are subjected to rapid land-use changes as a result of residential and agriculture will be considered pertaining to Evaluation of development and land employ impacts. The Rawal Pond located in Margalla Hills National park, Islamabad had storage capacity of 47, 230 acre-feet and it was constructed in 1960 on Kurrang River. The Rawal Lake is usually main method to obtain water supply pertaining to Islamabad and Rawalpindi town and cantonment. The sedimentation which originates from natural and human factors including many construction actions in its catchment area has reduced its storage capacity to 31, 000 acre-feet by 2005. The Simly Atteinte is recognized as an important constituent of the bulk water supply scheme intended for Islamabad. It truly is located 35 kilometers northeast of Islamabad it was made in 1982 and it had a storage capacity of 23, 1000 acre-feet. Their storage capacity was increased to 33, 1000 acre-feet in 2005. Its stores moves from two main channels namely the Soan Nullah and the Khad Nullah and various other small stream.
7. Level of research currently carried out around the proposed matter:
A study was carried out to judge soil chafing by using Revised Universal Garden soil Loss Formula (RUSLE) with GIS for Sub Watershed of Lake Rawal (Satrameel) during 1989-96 Combining the RUSLE with GIS tools was identified useful for price soil loss on tiny size watershed for soil conservation and land work with planning.
